Everyone needs a solid base, and our solid base is our belief in Jesus. But what does that mean? Well, we are a part of the Assemblies of God and our church holds to some beliefs that help us to flesh out what that belief in Jesus looks like.
The Bible does not simply contain the Word of God, but is, in reality, the complete revelation and very Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. God speaks to His people today, primarily through the Bible, but God does not ever give new revelations, which are contrary or additional to the finished biblical truth.
We believe in the trinity, that God has existed, does exist, and will always exist in the three persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They have the same attributes, characteristics, power, and purpose. All three deserve our worship, love, and obedience.
Salvation has been provided for all men through the sacrifice of Christ upon the cross. His atoning work has been proven by His resurrection from the dead. Those who repent and believe in Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life.
Man can be born again only through faith in Christ. Repentance, which is a vital part of believing, is a complete change of mind brought about by the Holy Spirit, turning a person to God from sin.
